The University of Minnesota offers a diverse range of fellowship programs in critical care medicine, designed to prepare the next generation of leaders in patient care, research, and education. Our fellowships span multiple departments and specialties, providing rich interdisciplinary training and exposure to a wide variety of critically ill populations.

Anesthesiology Critical Care Fellowship

Department of Anesthesiology
The Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary training in the management of complex ICU patients across surgical, cardiovascular, neuro, and medical intensive care units. Fellows develop advanced clinical and communication skills while training alongside leading critical care teams in a collaborative, academic environment.

Critical Care Medicine Fellowship

The Critical Care Medicine Fellowship provides a pathway for graduates from 2-3 year internal medicine subspecialty fellowships to continue their training in a one-year, ACGME-accredited critical care fellowship program. The program offers two tracks, general critical care and cardiology critical care. Trainees will be board-eligible in critical care medicine upon successful completion of the program.

Neurocritical Care Fellowship

The Neurocritical Care Fellowship Program trains the next generation of neurointensivists to advance the field of neurocritical care by providing the highest quality of care to patients. The program is dually accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and United Council of Neurological Subspecialties (UCNS).

Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship

The Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program provides broad-based training in the practice of pediatric critical care medicine. The primary training site, the M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital, is a nationally recognized children's hospital with the steadfast commitment to provide trainees with high quality, comprehensive training in preparation for academic careers in pediatric critical care medicine.

Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowship

The University of Minnesota offers a combined three-year Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship. Upon completion of the program, fellows will be able to diagnose and manage pulmonary disease and diseases that occur in the critically ill patient, interpret studies and perform procedures in the areas of pulmonary and critical care medicine, in addition to being able to identify, develop, and complete a basic science and clinical research project.

Surgical Critical Care Fellowship

The Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Minnesota is a one-year, ACGME-accredited program that is built to give fellows a combination of clinical experience, didactic education, and research opportunities that allow graduates to launch their careers as leaders in the field of critical care medicine.
